Maarten -- Magna

Maarten van Rossum.
the Guelders Attila: "First of all, the Guelders War. This war between the Duke of Guelders and the Burgundians -- and afterwards the Habsburgs -- was a struggle for power in the duchy of Guelders. It ended in 1543 with the Treaty of Venlo, favourable to the Emperor Charles V. But in 1542 the war was still undecided, and Maarten van Rossum became the scourge of Brabant. Van Rossum was a commander-in-chief in the service of the Duke Charles of Guelders (+1538), and his successor, William II the Rich, and his expeditions within the duchy of Brabant, earned him the reputation of being the 'Guelders Attila', some say deservedly, others say erroneously. . . ."
