Ermengol VI (1096-1154)

" . . . About 1115 he came of age and took part in the conquest of Saragossa (1118). Later, as a member of the army of Alfons VII de Castella he had an outstanding participation in the expedition to Almeria (1147) and, as main allied of Ramon Berenguer IV, contributed decidedly in the conquest of Lleida (1149); besides the third part of the dominion, he obtained the lordship of the city that was under the count of Barcelona's dominion, thus was established a joint ownership expressed in the town charter given by both counts to the inhabitants in 1150. In general, he had a remarkable role in the peninsular policy of his time."  (Enciclopedia Catalana)

Ermengol VII (d.1184)

 "...was an excellent chief minister of Ferran II de Lleó who appointed him first court official and made him many donations, especially after his support during the campaign against the Sarracens of Extremadura (1167). While being in his county, he granted town charters to Agramunt (1163), Balaguer and Castellblanch (1174). In 1166 he founded the monastery of Bellpuig de les Avellanes. He was murdered, together with his brother Galceran de Sales, in unknown circumstances and motives."
